Our community wellness and education programs include: |

National Safe Sitter Course
If you are 13 to 15 years of age, and interested in baby-sitting, this class is for you. The class covers safety precautions, such as what to do if a stranger comes to the door and how to call for help; what to do if a child is choking; business skills such as determining payment and accepting the best jobs; basic child care such as diapering and feeding; and how to entertain children. The class meets for eight hours (8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.). Fee: $25 per person.

MedAssist - a community out reach program between the hospital and area pharmacies which provide financial assistance for prescription medication upon discharge from the hospital for those unable to pay for prescriptions.

Mammography Education Outreach - education of breast self-examinations and the importance of getting a mammogram are provided at community events and hospital sponsored classes.

TAP (Teens as Parents) -a collaboratively sponsored program between the Hospital, Harnett County County Health Department, and the NC Cooperative Extension providing teen parents with prenatal care, parenting and child care skills. We enrolled 50 teens and made 750 home visits this year. No teens dropped out of high school for the year, 6 graduated from high school, 3 enrolled in community college, 9 received their GED and 16 of the teens are working.
